HISTORY

In the year 1951, Mr. Tosaku Nishida established a knitting company which became the foundation of GOLDWIN Inc. With the rise of sports industry in Japan, GOLDWIN grew up as one of the leaders.

Since the foundation, GOLDWIN developed a vertical production structure to process raw materials to clothing with strong emphasis placed on quality. This proved successful and since the Olympiad held in Tokyo 1964, GOLDWIN has supported many large sports events by offering quality apparels. Currently, GOLDWIN supports many famous athletes. From the 1970's on, GOLDWIN's growth was accelerated by introducing to Japan many famous foreign brands under license.

GOLDWIN now offers a variety of clothing such as ski, athletic, tennis and outdoor apparels to name a few. With a hometown plant in Japan as the main base, GOLDWIN has plants in China and Southeast Asia. In addition to these plants, Beijing GOLDWIN Co., Ltd., the largest overseas plant, has already started its operation in October 1996.

The company grew further in proportion to the credibility it built up. In 1981, GOLDWIN had its stock listed on the Second Division of the Nagoya Stock Exchange; in 1991, listed on the Second Division of the Tokyo Stock Exchange; and last year in 1995, listed on its First Division, the most prestigious stock exchange in Japan.
